The mission of the Whatcom County COAD (Community Organizations Active
in Disaster) is to identify and organize resources to meet
disaster-related community needs.
Following last month's discussion of what our next steps as a COAD
should be, please give some thought to how we might engage a broader
public in disaster preparedness and development of recovery
plans/business continuity plans for families, business, and nonprofits.
* Do we want to sponsor a business continuity plan workshop that
could also target agricultural businesses?
* Another Neighbor Helping Neighbor session (assuming we can find
someone to do it - Hank Kramer of the state office)?
* Target neighborhood associations as a factor in spreading the
word both about preparedness and continuity planning?
Give these topics some thought and come prepared to sort through the
ideas so we can start working on our next project.
